Alginate mask: answering tricky questions from buyers

Alginate mask: answering tricky questions from buyers

Alginate masks are a great way out when you need high-quality express care! Thanks to the effect of occlusion, the pores open hospitably, letting in beneficial components into the deep layers of the skin.

But what if you get acquainted with masks for the first time? Friends from the eco-magazine LookBio have prepared very interesting questions about alginates for Anastasia, the creator of our brand, which will help you better understand this miracle remedy!

Almost all alginate masks are made with sodium pyrophosphate. Your old formula was also with it. Now in the composition of disodium phosphate.

What is the difference?

We had an interesting story with sodium pyrophosphate! To begin with, this component has previously confused buyers and bloggers, because it is allegedly dangerous, since some of its synthetic compounds accumulate in the body and gradually poison it.

In general, pyrophosphate is indeed of synthetic origin, can cause allergic reactions and accumulate in the body. But only when taken orally in large quantities (in food, the additive is used in safe dosages, including in the EU)!

In alginate masks, the ingredient is completely safe, as it is used in a very low dosage and is not used internally. In fact, the component works only as a structure regulator - it allows the alginate mask to spread better over the face and solidify evenly, forming a uniform film of a whole complex of nutrients.

But still, due to some suspicious contraindications for the use of the product, we began to look for an alternative!

And we found it at the Incosmetics exhibition - our colleagues from another company successfully passed the official international quality certification COSMOS ORGANIC for alginate masks with a component of disodium phosphate in the composition.

We immediately followed suit, and after successful testing, we replaced the old component with a new one!

What is the most active component of the mask, due to which it freezes? Does this component have some cosmetic purpose or is it just for texture?

Alginates and assets are responsible for the bright “instagram” alginate film!

Sodium alginate, calcium sulfate and phosphate ions (disodium phosphate / sodium pyrophosphate) help to harden and maintain the integrity of the texture of the mask.

Alginate needs calcium ions to harden. And to him, in turn, phosphate ions, which will regulate the reaction, which will help the mask not harden faster than we apply it.

Why does breeding water need to be cold?

The lower the temperature, the slower the mask will harden. This means that you will have enough time to slowly apply as many nutrient layers as possible.

What layer should the mask be applied to the skin?

It is advisable to apply the mask in a dense layer of 3-4 mm in order to increase the hardening time - the longer this gap is, the better the active ingredients and minerals penetrate the skin.

After the mask hardens, this effect is significantly reduced, so it makes no sense to overdo it. You will immediately feel that it is time to take off when the humidity under the mask is reduced.

It is also important to apply the mask in a dense whole layer - this will make the “bath” (occlusion) effect as useful as possible, open the pores better and significantly improve the penetration of active ingredients into the deeper layers of the skin.

Can I apply it around the eyes and mouth?

Yes, alginate masks can be used all over the face if the assets allow use for the skin around the eyes. It is easy to apply the mask on your mouth on your own, but to apply on the eyes you will need the help of a friend
